Here’s one we saw on Calle 74 in Santiago. Two levels, with a garage, in Santiago for $186,000. But when I’m in the city, I don’t expect palapas. Is is just me who associates thatched roofs with beaches? They just look strange in the Centro.
There are three bedrooms, but we only saw two. The last bedroom had a sleeping tenant. It didn’t make a difference, though. All the rooms were crushed into the front, and an unappealing backyard hung in the back. Lots of stone gravel.
I’ve come to like the idea of having a few rooms in a main house and a casita in the back for a master bedroom. That took a while to wrap our heads around, but in the end, more rooms are exposed to the air and light, and the dilemma of a backyard that’s too exposed to neighbors is gone. I’ve seen this layout in as tight a space as 8 meters wide. You just need adequate depth.
Does anyone out there have experience living in either type of floor plan? I’d really appreciate hearing from you. Please feel free to leave a comment.
