I’m impressed! Most high school kids would probably choose Disney, New York City, or some typical resort, but they’re selling Mexican food (from Applebee’s!) to raise funds to experience the culture and history of the White City. I know my high school band sold candies door to door to take a trip to Virginia Beach. We never went. I wonder whatever happened to that candy revenue?
During the seven-day trip, students will practice and perform two concerts with a local student band, the Banda Sinfonica Juvenil del Instituto de Cultura de Yucatan, band director Randy Hoepker told the Des Moines Register.
They are $10,000 short of their $60,000 fund-raising goal, so to rev things up, they’re selling a $12 meal of spicy queso blanco and chips, an entree of fiesta lime chicken or sizzling fajitas, plus brownies and sodas. Mucho luck, Huskies!
